A busy time

Daisies in garden of Coleridge Cottage

At last we are open again! There are plenty of new things to do at Coleridge Cottage this spring. First of all, more open days the Cottage will now be open for seven days a week, from the 3rd of March-4th November (11am-5pm).

In February, we held a couple of volunteering open days, and welcomed new volunteers who will be joining the team. We will be looking to hold another open day in the evening later in the year, but we are always looking for new people to join us, so if you are interest, give us a call or pop by! There are opportunities in the tearoom, shop, as a room guide or as an events volunteer to help with the many tours and events in 2018.

This year, the Cottage is launching a new tour, to celebrate the National Trust's 2018 campaign 'Women and Power'. The 'Romantic Women' tour will tell the tales of the women in Coleridge's life when he lived in Nether Stowey, such as Sara Coleridge and Dorothy Wordsworth, and what life was like for women in the 18th century. These tours will be every other Wednesday from the 14th of March-18th July, 12-1pm.

The Cottage Uncovered tour returns, with the addition of some rather recent spooky events! These tell the story of the Cottage after Coleridge moved out, including its life as a Victorian pub. These tours will be the first Tuesday of every month (starting Tuesday 6th March), 12-1pm.

Every Monday from the 5th of March, there will be poetry readings at 12.30, 2.30, and 3pm, in the Cottage, so you can hear Coleridge's work in the place that inspired it.

If you're looking for fun for all the family, there is plenty to do over the Easter holidays: The 'Signs of Spring' trail runs every day, 11am-5pm from the 24th March-15th April, where you can hunt for the signs of spring for a chance to win a prize. There will also be 15-minute story time sessions aimed at 4-7 year olds on the 29th March, 5th and 12th of April every hour from 12.30-3.30pm.
