The Alliance of Literary Societies

The ALS, to which the Friends of Coleridge belongs, has just sent us copies of their annual journal, ALSo. This year’s theme is humour in literature, and the journal contains articles on Virginia Woolf, Barbara Pym, the humour of hypochondria, and social satire in 20th-century fiction, among others.

You can get an electronic copy by emailing Linda Curry, l.j.curry@bham.ac.uk, or for a hard copy write to her (59 Bryony Road, Selly Oak, Birmingham B294BY) enclosing a cheque for £4.00 payable to the Alliance of Literary Societies.

The ALS welcomes contributions to ALSo. The theme for 2014 is ‘The Literary Fantastic’ – myth and legend, magic, Gothic, ghosts, and witchcraft. Articles should be about 1,000 to 1,500 words long. Send your piece to Linda Curry by 1 December 2013.
