Kilve 2008 in Verse
Lines - to DW
It is the first autumnal storm
Alas! The whirl-blast’s paid a visit.
Don mac and boots; for this one day
You need not look exquisite.

Cease now these thoughts of Turner’s art,
Embrothelled atheists, Akenside,
Baptismal day and ‘Human Life’,
We’ll go explore the Quantocks wide!
So up to old Alfoxden’s wood
Through fairy glen, past waterfall
We’ll laugh off rain and wind alike
For us these places ne’er shall pall.
But when through Winter’s darkened days
Our minds and spirits seek for ease
‘Tis not to windswept woods we’ll turn
But Kilve’s strong intellectual breeze.
