Justin Shepherd is Head of English at Wellington School and is actively involved in The Friends of Coleridge. He will talk about what drew Coleridge to the West Somerset landscape

NICHOLAS ANDERSON: PARADOX, CONTRADICTION, ILLUSION & INTRIGUE: MUSICAL LIFE AT THE COURT OF THE SUN KING, LOUIS XIV
Nicholas Anderson is a distinguished broadcaster, author and musicologist. His previous talks to this group have been very popular and it is a pleasure to welcome him back.

DAVID SULLY: THE WEST SOMERSET FREE PRESS: THE FIRST 150 YEARS
David Sully worked for many years on the Free Press which is 150 years old this month. A book by Jeff Cox is being published to mark the event and it is hoped that he (and copies of the book) will also be present.

Shirley and her late husband Reggie started this series of monthly talks, and she has been closely involved both with The Friends of Coleridge, and Coleridge Cottage, for many years.

Celebrate Bank Holiday with members of Halsway Manor (the National Centre for Traditional Music, Dance & Song). They will perform local folk music of William Winter, Ruth Tongue & others.

TOM MAYBERRY: JOHN HANNING SPEKE: THE SOMERSET MAN WHO DISCOVERED THE SOURCE OF THE NILE
The County Heritage Officer makes a welcome return to talk on the fascinating and complex J H Speke whose family is linked to Whitelackington & Dillington. Speke is buried in Dowlish Wake church near Ilminster, and Dr David Livingstone attended his funeral.

CHRIS SIDAWAY: CORNICES, CORBELS & COTTAGES: VERNACULAR ARCHITECTURE IN SOMERSET
Chris Sidaway is a well known local historian and lecturer, and his talk on the Coleridge Way last year was greatly enjoyed. Tonight he invites us to look at those things we pass by every day but never really notice or appreciate.
